Today we left our hotel in Salt Lake City with everyone in higher spirits. Levi had woken up at midnight with a fever again but today seemed better. After breakfast we went to
Temple Square. I had heard about it from my parents but it was different seeing it in person. This reconstruction of Jerusalem based off the "prophet" Joseph Smith is so elaborate and so crazy to me that so many people in the world are Mormons. It runs as a tourist attraction and a great way to actually draw people in and get them to read about Mormonism with intent to convert. I told the girls who chatted with us there (they were there on their mission) that we were Christian and wanted to show/talk to our kids about the difference between Christianity and other religions... They didn't really respond except say "oh"... and we left the visitor center after Sadie pointed to a gold angel "there is one of their idols!" In all seriousness, Leighton and I decided it was a good idea to pray outside the temple for the repentance, mercy, and truth of scripture to fill the people there.
After we left Salt Lake City, we headed to
Dinosaur CO to see the actual fossils of dinosaurs still in place. We felt like we were on Jurassic Park when we got on the trolley but no dinosaurs came to life, so we pretended to be paleontologist.
We drove the rest of the way across Utah into Colorado. There was really nothing to look at and no where to stop. We made it to Craig CO to stay with our friends' parents, The Middleton's. There house is perfect for us as they have 10 young grandchildren. They graciously fed us dinner and breakfast and gave us a nice place to stay for the night. Tomorrow we head to Nebraska!
I haven't seen this until now! How crazy is it to think that you and your kids have played and slept and ate in the same place as we have many times! We really need to get together again!
