Road Trip Day 5: North Platte NE to Kansas City MO

Next door to our hotel in North Platte was Buffalo Bill's museum. We toured and learned about the Wild Wild West show. 

Next we headed east along an uneventful area of Nebraska. We stopped for lunch in Lincoln, NE at a little Italian restaurant. None of us could breath or think straight due to the heat (95-102 F). Our PNW bodies have not acclimated to the temperatures + humidity. 

After lunch we finished our time in Nebraska, dipped into Iowa for a moment and then crossed into Missouri. However we didn't stay in Missouri long, as we went to Kansas City, Kansas for dinner at Arthur Bryant's BBQ. We bought some summer clothes for the kids as they did not have enough shots/tank tops for this weather. Then we drove back into Missouri on the other side of the river to Kansas City, MO to stay the night at our friend's (Anna Venneman) parents' house, the Harris'. It is so nice staying at people's homes who are grandparents and ready for a family with three little kids. 

We caught fireflies for the first time! The kids loved it! 

Tomorrow we will make our trek to Union City TN through St Louis to see Wes' family in his hometown!
