Hallows Church PlayDayz Sports Camp- Guest Post by Wes

Last week The Hallows sponsored its 4th Play Dayz Sports & Rec Camp and this year, because  Leighton just turned 5, she got to participate. She has been excited all year since she watched some kids dump water on my head at the end of camp last year. The campers are from ages 5-12. We break the teams down by ages and assign each team a color and 2 team leaders. The team leaders will come up with a team name and chant that the kids will learn and scream all 3 days of camp. It brings the kids together who don't know each other or their team leaders. These teams go through 4 activities each day such as; football, frisbee, soccer, basketball, tug of war, water balloon toss, diamond pickle, freeze tag, etc. We provide a parent's lounge area for parents to watch camp and connect with one another.

There were 2 mission teams that came to Seattle to support this effort, South Tulsa Baptist Church (have come all 4 years) and Living Hope Baptist Church from College Station, TX (1st year helping.) Each team did great and where a huge help! Several parents, not part of any church, mentioned how awesome it was for people to give up several days and come to Seattle just to help with this camp. I love getting to hang out with these kids for 3 days and also getting to meet new parents as well as reconnect with returning parents.

After the 3rd day of camp we have a pizza party for everyone to hang out and share a meal together. Always a good time making new friends. Here is a link to the video : CLICK HERE

We enjoyed serving the Fremont community and happy that $800 was raised for the community elementary school PTA!
Each team at their team color flag.

Each day there was a "Spirit Award"
and the 4 most spirited teams
got to  play a water game with their
team leaders. This one is called "Hit the Porcupine"

Couldn't have pulled this off with out Mary Ann!
She handles the registration side of the camp and does an amazing job.
