Running The Race at Hand
they think he is the world's strongest dad so when I took their picture on Father's Day I said "show me your muscles" and they all flexed appropriately! |
Wes and two other guys from church who ran too, Aaron and Dan |
So Wes was super hero on Sunday as runner and activities for the least of these, but this is just a glimpse of how he runs the real race before him.
And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 11:39-12:2
Sometimes it is easier to meander in life instead of run the race. The people the book of Hebrews is addressing were becoming settled into the world and becoming spiritually lazy. This is something I love about Wes. His goal is run with Jesus. Wes reminds me that the sufferings of now will not compare to the glory to be revealed with Christ that is coming. It encourages me to look at my life and decide what stays and what goes in this present life... is it worth it? Does ____ or ____ help me run this race with Jesus or does it hinder me? What a way to identify sin and repent and believe.
Wes also runs hard as Dad everyday. His earthly responsibility after God is to me and the kids. He cares for us well. Wes is our rock and leads with contentment, grace, and confidence.
We love you!
