Hallows Update
What has been going on lately with the Hallows Church?
Continue to meet for worship and study Sunday nights at 6 pm (renting space from Fremont Baptist) We have had anywhere from 40- 85 people on any given night thus far!
Children's ministry is going well also....
Our "Small Group" or weekly bible study group got renamed to Missional Community Groups to emphasize having an outward focus. Not merely focusing on ourselves growing in faith and studying God's word, but focusing on how we can share the Gospel and make the Kingdom of God tangible. Below is a picture of our group making sandwiches. We took sack dinners for ourselves and made extras to give to the homeless people in Fremont. We scattered in groups of two and were able to have dinner with several of them, get to know them, and pray with them. Hopefully a need was provided (in the food) but more importantly a relationship was formed so when we see them out we can engage in conversation and continue to get to know them. The Fremont homeless community is very consistent and every time our family takes a walk we run into the same men and women. We want to do this again on a more regular basis.
Also the church is continuing to grow. Even though there are things we are still figuring out since the church is just starting, God is working. We are enjoying the company of other believers and trying to stay focused on why we are here (not letting the beautiful weather distract us!) Here are some pictures of our church wide cookout that we had at Ella Bailey Park this past Saturday.
Men's and Woman's Bible Studies meet every other week. Mine meets on Saturday mornings which is nice since I am off most weekends. Wes' meets on Friday mornings so sometimes Kim will keep Leighton for Wes which is greatly appreciated. We both really enjoy our time with other men and woman. Mixed groups are great but there is something special about spending time with other woman of all ages and stages in life. Wes feels the same way. I think he likes "man time"... since he is always surrounded by his girls.
Prayer, prayer, prayer for intentional relationship building is what we are asking of our peripheral supporters! We need specific prayer this for this coming Sunday. Our community group is going to host a block- party or neighborhood cookout at our house. We are going to pass out flyers Wednesday night to everyone on our street, Phinney Ave, advertising free food and fellowship. Hopefully some of our neighbors will stop by and we will get a chance to get to know them! Please pray for our community group to be intentional this week with the residents of Fremont and for relationships to build with us and our neighbors! Thanks!!!
Did you know if 1 person discipled 5 people for a year and then all 6 of them each discipled 5 people and this patterned continued for 10 years 11,718,750 would be discipled! Boom. #Makeithappen (I don't have twitter but I think it is funny to verabally say "hashtag____" after I make comments aloud)
