Block Party
Hallows update!
We had a neighborhood block party today at a playfield in the community. It consisted of yard games like spike ball, volleyball, ladder ball and face painting, bubbles, and bouncy houses for the kids. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, did a raffle for gift cards and even a cake walk. I think everyone who came had fun. There was a lot of Hallows church members but also new friends from the community that heard about the event by word of mouth or through our mail out flyers. We did face some opposition at the beginning of the event and again at the end of the event from an unsupportive neighbor. I pray Wes handled the situation well as I believe he would conduct himself with love even though I wasn't there for it. Please pray that though we faced negativity that God's Glory would still prevail not by our works but His. Wes was somewhat discouraged but I reminded him of many of yours kind words along with God's truths:
Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account"
2 Timothy 3:12 "Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution"
