Houston, We have a Problem... We need to extend Spring Break!

Over the kids’ Spring Break the kids and I flew to Houston to visit my aunt and uncle. My parents met us there too. Aunt Kathy and Uncle Innes have lived in Houston for almost 40 years. The last time I was there I was about 8 for their wedding. Wes had to work so the kids and went south for warmth and tourism with who I knew would be the best host and hostess around.

First time flying with all 3 kids alone. Thanks for anyone who prayed as the Lord took my "what-if" thoughts captive. The kids did well minus a few "who gets to sit where" disputes.
On day 1 we went to a park close to their house. It was close to 80 degrees F so the kids were not accustomed and trying to find any water source possible. I was enjoying the heat after leaving 30-40s in Cleveland.
The Mackillops chauffeured us around to restaurants and also cooked delicious food and desserts. I fell right in line with the kids and accepted the spoiling.
When the girls would wake up in the morning they would go to the garage house where mom and Dad were staying. they even left me notes on their bed. Levi also usually woke up early so him and I would walk around their neighborhood after walking to their local coffee shop, Milk and Cookies, for a coffee. In the afternoon Papa like to frequent there for ice cream.

The next day we went to the beach at Galveston. Levi would not stay out of the water. He loved the wave jumping and riding. Sadie played in the water but also built sand castles. Leighton was wary of sea creatures so she decided to spend her time flying a kite and looking for sea shells that she made into necklaces.

There was also lots of basketball played by all the kids but especially Levi inside and out.
Around the house checking out Innes' British tea spoons. Out for breakfast and walks daily by a water source. It was just in the 70s with a breeze there but I admit the Houston heat is different.
Natural History Museum
And park lunches!
Houston Rockets game on Monday night. They have season tickets and were able to get us row 1 for the ultimate game experience complete with kids zone activities, mascot high fives, Calvin Murphy visits, food delivery, free t-shirt and Sadie's best effort to get on the jumbo-tron.

On our last full day in Tx we drove to the NASA Johnson Space Center.
Highlights were the virtual reality as an astronaut doing a space walk, seeing the training facility for all astronauts, the size of the Saturn rocket used during the Apollo moon landings, touring the Space Shuttle and seeing what the international space station looks like. Also learning about robots and future Mars Missions.

Aunt Kathy also got a cake for Levi for his birthday and we celebrated as the next day we were flying out on March 30th.

Back to Ohio to see dad complete with a little Levi Hulk and his buckled up buddy.
