Special Delivery
"Special Delivery" - Mr Stork said to the elephant ladies... (from the movie Dumbo)…. is a quote Leighton seems to have said a bunch lately. She gladly opened cards from her great-grandmothers and Valentine care packages from the grandparents. In a world of e-cards, e-vites, texting, FaceTime and etc, I can vouch that it is always more fun and special to receive something from the mailman! Sadie and her felt so special by them that Wes and I felt we did not need to get them anything. Lucky us! No, I honestly find it fun to buy for them but just know they absolutely don't need it. I was actually proud that I could resist the urge, as I love to be festive….. even if it is a Hallmark Holiday. Leighton did help Wes make me a card and vise versa.
Our missional community wanted to show love this week so we bought several $5 Starbucks gift cards and attached a little note saying "LOVED by Jesus (1 John 3:16)" on it as we had been convicted to not just do acts of kindness but do them because He loves us and share that message. Well we had about 5 little bags left and Leighton had made some Thomas the Train valentine cards so we combined them. Special Delivery from Leighton! I thought she could hand them out to random people in Fremont when we went for a walk today. It would let her share what she made and inadvertently share some Truth … using our kid? some may say yes…. maybe we can just call it being missional? Please don't judge and just know she had fun and the people who received her Valentine's were appreciative and smiled.
Shout out to World's Strongest Dad. He is the best. Thankful for all he does for his three Valentine's!
And a little peak into what Leighton finds funny now… she put one box on Sadie's head (who just smiled and took it) and then put the other on her head. Love them "playing together"!
