Parks and Recreation

When I am off from work (and it is pretty out... I promise it does not rain as much as people think here), the three of us try to explore a part of Seattle or somewhere close by for the day. Thanks to several friends for the suggestions on where to go... I would never guess how close some places are to our house or in the city that look like you are no where near a city.

Carkeek Park: the park is about 10 minutes north of our house within Seattle; the Olympic Mountains are behind L and W with the Puget Sound waters.
L enjoyed watching the water rush on shore. She is a very curious young lady. The most common word strangers use to describe her is alert. Not sure what that means totally but I find it funny that people use that word more than any other.
Snoqualmie Falls: the falls is about 30 min southeast of Seattle; 270 feet of rushing water. It was pretty cool. It was vest day for the family... I promise we didn't plan it. L came in my room with her vest on and I already had my vest on then W wanted to wear his.....so we just rolled with it.
Leighton loved the stuffed bear in the gift shop. She thought it was very funny. The picture is a little blurry because it is fun my phone, sorry.

Golden Gardens: a beach park in Ballard (neighborhood west of us (Fremont)): next time we go we want to have a beach fire... never done that before; Olympic Mountains in background
Mary Lacy, a friend from Hoptown (crazy that another person from my hometown lives in Seattle) showed us this park at sunset.... beautiful.
Best place to watch a sunset in Seattle.
The Canal (connects to Lake Union and Pudget Sound): at the end of our street. Nice place to take a stroll or throw a blanket down and relax. Leighton enjoyed watching the bikers, runners, and roller blade people fly by and also the rowers and boats on the water.
Ballard Locks: Built in 1917 in Ballard (neighborhood next to Fremont) the locks allow boats to travel from the salt water of the Pudget Sound to/from the fresh water of Lake Union
