Lexington and Grandparents Spring Break

We kicked off our Spring Break with a trip to Lexington. We were supposed to meet Papa there to watch the Kentucky High School state basketball championship but his foot surgery didn’t allow him to come. We ended up going because already had a hotel room. I hadn’t been to Lexington in years and in Rupp arena in about 10 years. It was so fun to be back and show the kids around. We took them to UK campus and all 3 gave a verbal commitment they wanted to go to college there. It is crazy how parent’s sport allegiances influences kids. The high school game was fun and the kids also enjoyed being in Rupp Arena. I got sucked into elevator talk at the time about UK basketball and Wes said it was like bringing an alcoholic to the bar. I was off the wagon.

Anytime they can spend a week at their grandparents' houses there will be spoiling. Especially when we split the three of them up and they get more individual attention. This time Sadie asked to be alone so she went Grami/Papa's first and then switched with Levi and Leighton and went to Mimi/Big House. Thankful they live just 30 minutes apart.

Leighton and Levi already have a sweet relationship for the most part so they bonded further as she cares for him when we are around. They enjoyed shooting targets with a gun and shooting a lot of basketball!

Weston, our passionate basketball family watcher, came over for some NCAA tournament viewing. We let him in even with a UT shirt on.

Sadie enjoyed shopping (she will browse for hours!) and alone time, though by the end of the week she did miss her family I believe. At Mimi’s her friend from New Year’s Eve Party, Emory came over. And she went swimming (though a little cold!) at Izzy and Drew’s house (Mimi’s friends/neighbors). She is a social lady so those friend surprises she wasn’t planning were a boost for her.
