Don't Wait to Celebrate

After Levi's seizure in Nov 2019 (see HERE for more info) he had his first follow up visit with neurology in early Feb. We decided with the doctors to go ahead and have a MRI/MRA of his neck/brain as a follow up since his last detailed scan was in 2017. The plan in Seattle had been to do another at some point when he got older and it seemed like a good time with the seizure occurring.
So Levi was sedated and had an hour or more MRI and MRA scan with and without contrast. I was anxious almost about him having to be volunteerily sedated then the scan results. But so thankful our doctor didn't make us wait long but instead called about an hour after Levi and Wes let the hospital to say nothing showed up on scans. So so thankful and grateful for today. We tend to celebrate a lot but we of course celebrated multiple times with ice cream for this occasion.

I was telling a friend at church that I was so thankful for others praying for us and Levi. Sometimes when I want to be focused in prayer, my mind can wander in these anxious situations and I find great comfort in knowing others who aren't "the mom" are interceding in solid mind for us. She reminded me of Exodus 17:12  "But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”
In this story, the people of Israel are in the middle of battle, and as long as Moses’ hands are lifted to God in prayer on this mountain, then the people of God are experiencing success in battle. But then when his hands come down, the people of God are struggling in battle, so Aaron and Hur, alongside Moses, make it possible for those hands to stay up, they make it possible for him to sit, and then this picture, Aaron on one side, Hur on the other, and they keep his hands steady and up, so that the people of God experienced victory. Our help comes from God but He also ordains others to help us in our relationship with God. The Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation. It challenges me to remember to be plugged into and committed to a local church. I know I need it to be in relationship with God.

I like this prayer by D. Platt I read "Then, God, we pray that you would help us to be Aaron and Hur for Moseses around us, not just leaders, yes, for leaders in the church, but just for people around us. God, give us sensitivity to people around us right now in our families, in our churches, followers of Christ around us who need us to be praying specifically for them, who need us to be helping them in this way or that way, holding their arms up. God, give us your eyes for those who are hurting around us, for those who are struggling around us in particular with various temptation and sin. God, help us to hold them up, help us to help them. God, as you help them, use our lives as an instrument of your help for them, that your victory might be experienced by them and us in the battlefield of life in a sinful world.God, make us this kind of community in our churches, and help us to be these kinds of servants for others around us today, we pray, in Jesus’ name, amen."
Thankful for our neighbors taking the girls in early and to school so Wes and I could both go to MRI
The girls started tennis this week! Leighton competed in a regional speech meet and got the second place category. We were so proud of her for getting up in front of her school and another school and competing with such pose and confidence! And Sadie had the opportunity to create an invention and present to her class which was also an accomplishment. Sadie also entered a coloring contest at school and got 2nd place. We are happy they just are up for entering and find joy in participating!
For all that and the scan results, we went to Mitchells Ice Cream a couple of times.
