Charlotte and Some Pig

Fun painting for mom…easier and less messy than carving, right?
When mom and dad were here last they brought the 1973 cartoon version of Charlotte's Web the movie. The girls loved it. So then I bought Leighton the old 1952 original version of the book. It looks like there was a 2006 non-animated movie released we should check out too. Anyways,  Leighton began identifying herself as Charlotte the spider and Sadie as Wilbur the pig. Sadie happily jumped on board. The characters in the movie seemed to fit their roles. I would definitely say "Sadie is something else" so referring to her as "Some Pig" seemed fitting. Leighton is for sure kind, thoughtful and will let Sadie shine if Sadie is doing something funny or cute. Plus Charlotte and Wilbur are best friends in the book and I'd say that fits the girls well too.

So… since all this was happening in Oct why not ask the kids if they want to be Charlotte and Wilbur for Halloween? Spider and pig costume should be easy to find. Amazon prime provided a pig costume but I could not find a spider. I was going to make one but since I don't sew putting off how to add 8 legs to black clothing for Leighton. Finally I went back to Amazon prime this week and just ordered a "fancy" version of Charlotte…. spider headband, tutu, and wings as a web. Leighton probably liked that better, lets be honest.
Sadie started dancing and we were all laughing so hard!
Leighton was dead set on Wes and I dressing up. She requested we be Mr. and Mrs. Zuckerman, the farmer and his wife who owned Wilbur. So about 30 minutes before we were going to take them trick-o-treating we raided our closet to find anything that looked like 1950s farmer/farmer wife apparel… it wasn't the best but Leighton liked it so thats all that matters.
Showing you the web and pig tail! And then getting into character….
My baby girl is getting so old!
We trick-o-treated around the neighborhood business again in Fremont. The Moll family came over to walk with us.
Sadie dropped the hat half way through….

Afterwards we went to Leighton's school as they were having a fall festival. The girls enjoyed collecting candy and playing games!
Happy Halloween from Charlotte and Wilbur!
