Take me out the Ballgame

Dad and a few of his friends from Edgewood church in Hopkinsville came to serve our church this past weekend. They were on a "mission trip" (I am struggling with that terminology). But anyway they served the places that our church is invested in on our behalf such as the Fremont Chamber of Commerce at their whiffle ball tournament and BF Day Elementary School. They also encouraged our church by supporting the West Seattle expression of the Hallows and helping set up/tear down for our weekly worship gathering. Wes tries to organize all groups who come to serve our church/the city by using them to serve Hallows. It frees up the people who live here to have opportunities to engage with others or he has them serve places we are invested in, not just a random soup kitchen. Ive been totally guilty of going on a "mission trip" for my own experience/tourism. Too many times I think the church as a whole does trips to give the people going the most reward for their service instead of thinking how to best reward the ones they serve. Sometimes that is a very mundane task that are not as glamourous or leave you with necessarily feeling like you accomplished something.  (Please take time to check out When Helping Hurts and/or Toxic Charity… I'd love to hear your thoughts)

At the whiffle ball tournament. It was put on the by the Chamber of Commerce for all business in the area. For the second year in a row, the Hallows Team took home the trophy.
Sadie showing off her skills balancing on Wes' hands. Wes obviously dressed them and did Sadie's hair that day : )
When the team arrived we did show them a few places in the city such as Pikes Market and Golden Gardens
First Starbucks

It was great seeing Dad of course. The girls loved that. We got to spend a lot of time together and the guys who came with Dad were very laid back and easy going which was great. They let Dad slip away for a bit to get some snuggles and practice a little swinging….

The night before they left we all took in a Mariners Baseball game. Unlike with the Seahawks, our family has loyalty to the St Louis Cardinals so we are not true Mariners fan. Don't worry Kevin.

Sadie was weary around the moose
The guys who came from KY! Thank you all again.
