Expore WA: Kalaloch (Sadie's first time camping)
Well we initiated Sadie into the world of camping this past weekend. Maybe I should rephrase that… Sadie initiated us into what it is like to camp with her : ) She was good and slept but she ran around that campsite till dark (10pm!) She loved exploring, climbing in the camp chairs then back out (repeat), watching the fire and other kids, putting rocks in her bucket, and bouncing off the air mattress in the tent. Leighton also had a great time. She basically wanted to spend her time either "hiking", playing in sand, or setting up her sleeping situation on her cot or in the hammock.
We went to the Olympic Mountains to camp with friends at Kalaloch. We had driven through this area before two years ago (Click HERE). It is as far west from Seattle as you can go. Though I love white sandy beaches and hot sun, it was neat to look out onto the Pacific Ocean through the fog… a very typical PNW beach scene I have come to learn. It was 90 degrees in Seattle (which is hot for here) but by the time we ferried to Bainbridge then drove 3 hours around the mountains to the coast, it was in the 60s. Wes and I had a good time since a lot of our friends were camping with us… 6 families total which made 15 kids! It was a little crazy when we all grilled dinner together over the fire but I think the kids had a good time. It was a short trip but I was glad we went.
Walking on the beach….
And Wes looking stoked to be warming up frozen milk for Sadie. Fortunately had enough frozen milk to carry Sadie to the year mark at least! Sad she is getting older but also excited for the freedom of not having to pump or be the sole milk supply for Sadie soon!

Wes also created these ~ 30 second movies with a free app ROAD MOVIES on his phone. Pretty good. Enjoy!
