Week 39: Gardens, Gymnastics and Games

Well week 39 has arrived but the baby girl has not. Im still pregnant and each day we think "could this be it?" I just need to be patient and enjoy this time with Leighton, one way or another she will be here shortly.  My mom arrived this weekend, so anytime she comes is good as we have someone here to watch Leighton day or night without having to coordinate with friends.

Its amazing how 2 year olds can be easily entertained on a simple merry-go-round, feeding ducks or fish.
Country Village has a little train ride that Leighton thinks is awesome
We could not get her to ride the real ponies
but she loved this old manual merry-go-round

We spent some time at the Japanese Gardens which is just across the canal from our house between us and downtown at Washington Park Arboretum. We had never been and it was a very pretty park.
We had lunch at Volunteer Park Cafe. A simple little restaurant in the middle of the North Capital Hill neighborhood close to the arboretum. I feel like it is the epitome of a Seattle. As many fresh flowers as they could fit inside and out, windows up/no air conditioning, no trash bags inside (only buckets) for compost, etc, a long table in the middle for community eating, only all natural and local produce were used. Just a pure example of how there are no chain/fast food restaurants in neighborhoods but locally owned businesses. Very cute place!
Also we signed Leighton up through a community center for a gymnastics class once a week. I thought it would be a good fit as she loves to climb, jump, swing and flip. It was a success! We thought it would be good for her to have something that one of us took her to after the new baby got here.... a little Leighton alone time :)

Lastly at the end of the week, games will be underway at the 1st annual Hallows Play Dayz Sports camp! Wes was recently interviewed by a lady who maintains a blog for Fremont to promote the camp and do a little advertising. Signs were put out today by Wes and the interns to encourage participation from the neighborhood.  Please be prayerful for the families and kids who will come, and also for the workers and logistics!
