Chicago!

Several of our close friends wanted to go see Ben Rector in concert in Chicago. Wes and I had really listened to his music but we love a chance to hang out with our friends and explore a new city. We laugh a lot with the Kohls, Heberles and Guertins and they also go to our church so the community is valued time.

We stayed in an Airbnb in Wicker Park. Wes and I are usually the first ones up so we would roam for coffee/breakfast early. We had fun riding the L train (except one that didn’t have AC and it felt like we were on a sauna train), going to the free Lincoln Park zoo, popping in book stores and flower shops, trying all the Chicago local food and of course going to the concert. Wes and I did like his music and knew Matt Kearny who opened for him. Though I don’t like car rides, the 5 hours riding with the Guertins was good for passing the time and catching up.

Jackie and Jim are from the Chicago area so they made most of the recommendations which was nice. They also booked us a boat architectural tour through downtown which was great and helpful to understand history. It is also a cool way to see the city!
