Summer comes to an end

Our church met at Lake Erie for baptisms after church service.

As summer come to an end, we mourn the last days of "freedom" from the responsibilities of the school year and extracurricular activities but also look forward to the changing of seasons that brings routine and fall fun.

We cram in as many spontaneous bike ride as we can. Stopping at Lake Rd Market is always a motivator for Levi and Sadie.

Coffee shop dates with mom or hikes in the woods have been summer pastimes too. For Levi I try to make writing words (like what we see in the woods) fun and he is usually a good participant.

They are all in friend-mode but especially Leighton.
Leighton and Maddie even wrote a proposal on why they should be allowed to have a sleep over. We had waited until now but said yes as they are entering upper school.

Levi and Theo
backyard friends

and occassionally superhero friends
Thor even drinks Starbucks!

The body language between Sadie and Leighton tells the story of the dispute (likely over clothes).

Soaking up as many pool days as we can before the weather shifts and the pool closes.

Sadie and her two soccer friends, Harper and Emma

And of course using any excuse to get ice cream!

Occasionally Levi will come out give me extra hugs when I am headed to work. Wes captured this interaction. I love his hugs.
Other pictures from summer time.... Levi reading, Sadie laying on the back porch tired, an update to the kids bathroom (changed to green paint), Wes and his friends before four-wheeling, Mexican night booth pictures where I think Sadie and Levi were aggravating Leighton, Sadie enjoying a tub soak, card games, Levi sleeping in superhero costumes (and having me dress up with him), bible studying with Leighton in the backyard, back to school haircuts, sleepovers with Lydia for Leighton, church cuddles from Levi for me (how much longer will I be able to pick him up?!), trying new coffee shops around Cleveland and frequenting the library.

Leighton and Lydia's excitement for their first sleepover was off the chart!

Before school started, cross country had already began. They ran daily for two weeks and then had their first meet.

In August as well, Quarry Hill Orchard also does its annual peach festival. We went with Missi's again this year. Levi and Auri of course loved the time together!

Then we enjoyed their delicious peaches!

Sadie's soccer season for Rocky River also kicked off! She is enjoying being on a more competitive team and a few of her teammates from last season are also with her!
