Spring Break '23

We drove to Maryland for half of our Spring Break this year to see the Austins. THey are moving to Hawaii in May so we wanted to spend time with them before they move and take advantage of living in driving distance to one another. Mimi and Big also came so it was nice to have the whole family together.

The cousins get along well and it was sweet to see them playing together. Leighton wasn't too old not participate in a show too.

Wes and I played quite a bit of ping pong but Levi also enjoyed challenging others too. He wants to get it!
On our first day we went to the annex of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. It was about an hour drive so we were all tired after one outing, but it was cool to see. My favorite part was the space area as they house the Discovery Space Shuttle there. Wes enjoyed seeing the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshimi in WWII and the kids enjoyed participating in the scavenger hunt and simulation.

On day 2, we went took the metro into the D.C. and went to the National Archives first. The girls enjoyed seeing the documents since they had been studying them at school. Then we ate lunch and took a Capitol tour that Wes had scheduled through our Representative.

It was a lot of walking for everyone. The Austins and Mimi and Big went home and our family rode the bus down to the Lincoln Memorial which allowed us to see the cherry blossoms. After that we headed home where Amelia (who Wes hired) planned a birthday party for Levi! She did Space Jam which was perfect as he LOVES that movie and listens to the music from it all the time while he is shooting basketball in his room.
Sadie taking advantage of an opportunity to cartwheel. I like Dr. Long (man who first used anesthesia) quote "my profession is to me a ministry to God"
The kids in Ohio House of Representatives office.
Lincoln Memorial pit stop.
Levi holding up 7 on his actual birthday!
Sadie photo bombing Wes and I's selfie and a picture of her explaining something.
Back to the house for SPACE JAM Birthday celebrations!

Also Mimi hired Leighton to make matching t-shirts which she loved doing!
On Day 3 Mimi and Big graciously kept the kids and Wes, Katie, Marc and I went out for a little double date in Old Town Alexandria which is a really cute area! We toured a 1792 apothecary which had my mind only thinking about all safety concerns. Medical history is so interesting!

Last night at the Austins with more yummy food (Ooni pizzas) and Amelia and Sadie's orange olive oil cake!

We left on April1st so enjoyed a little April Fools trick on the kids. We froze their cereal the night before :)
