April Showers please bring May Flowers

April was a raining month for us and we are hoping for dry, warmer weather soon. After church we will sometimes go out to dinner with friends since our service is from 5-6:15 PM. We went out with our friends the Missi's who have a little girl in Levi's 1st grade class, Auri, who is his close friend.

And on various occasions we end up at Mitchells. This is a rare picture of the bangs Sadie had cut this month. She has mostly clipped them back and didnt really embrace the change despite how cute I think they look. Levi continues to play basketball daily in his room and ask us all to challenge him in "1 v 1".  And Leighton cuddles friend's dogs when possible as she very much misses Sawyer still.
As the kids get older I always miss their sweet baby and toddler attributes but also appreciate that we can do new things such as play more advanced board games with them. Sadie and Leighton are really enjoying Settlers of Catan. And I enjoy playing old school, original Mario brothers. Our friend, Ben, has the original gaming system we have played at his house and ours. And by "we", I mean "me."
The kids had a day off school this month for Easter so we ventured to the Art Museum and lunch in Little Italy.
Seeing the art portraying Christ was encouraging and filled us with worship. I prayed the following at church on Sunday.
Lord,

2 Cor. 5:14-15 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

Resurrected Jesus, we join Paul’s bold call to be controlled by your love. You are reigning now and will forevermore.  We celebrate how you have defeated evil  on the cross and will completely destroy it in the future.

Why do we look for the living among the dead? Why do we seek comfort and life in dead works and lifeless materialism? Forgive us Lord. Forgive me for indulging. Forgive me for selfishness. Free us from living for the emptiness  of this world and ourselves. Re-capture our hearts when they drift daily.

At the end of Luke you tell us “ The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance for[i] forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And look, I am sending you (Holy Spirity) what my Father promised. “

Because you have been raised from the dead, preaching the gospel is not useless but essential. Spirit, give us boldness as Local church to share of your resurrection. Give us opportunities and interactions to proclaim your gospel daily. For you have risen from the dead, and this good news changes everything.

Thank you for the hope in this life and for the life to come. Amen

Always thankful for time with friends, Matt and Devon.

Pedicures with friends is also a relaxing time (Devon and Jackie)
And Wes finds it relaxing to go four-wheeling with guy friends.

Also our sweetest friend, Mrs. Pat, from church who watches the kids sometimes snuck into our yard on Easter morning and scattered the yard with eggs and candy. The kids loved it.
And Easter evening pictures for the kids... always a hit or miss.
Another day off from school on the Easter weekend, we hiked with the Lane family from church. The April showers had let up this weekend and we enjoyed the sunshine!
capitalizing on the sunshine and nice weather, a young couple from church (Marissa and Kyle) came over and we had them running relays with the kids in the backyard.

Activities towards the end of the school year really pick up. Sadie's class chapel was from Daniel and she was a narrator. She gave great emphasis and emotion when reading.

Nicer weather also means eating dinner outside and playing cards with Levi.

Sadie's class also had medieval day at school. She didn't want to wear the medieval hand me down dress we had for Leighton. She wanted a more active wear.

Grami and Papa came up for a visit and were able to attend grandparents day at school.

Little ladies at Starbucks.

And Dad and I dug a hole for a basketball goal in the backyard with some assistance by Levi.

The Cavs were in the NBA playoffs so of course Dad wanted to go to a basketball since they were playing while he was in town. It was everyone's first playoff game and very fun!

Levi's class also did a chapel for the parents which was a sweet time. And an end of the year field trip at the farm!

Sometimes the girls like to "play dress up" or maybe it is trying on new clothes they are finding more fun these days.
Mother/son bowling put on by the kids' school was also this month. We signed up to be in the lane with his self-proclaimed BFFE (best friend forever), Adam.
Other pictures from church and around the house!

Mrs. Pat had surgery so they also served her with encouraging flowers.
Sadie has some rainy and some sunshine soccer games this month as well. We even had friends (Mary Grace and Rachel) come to the rainy games! This is what we have signed up for as parents.

Sadie plays hard and is determined to score when she is in the game on offensive. The team is learning to pass better this year.
