Leighton's Birthday Week

You're only as young as your oldest and my oldest is now six! I feel old because she is getting old. I could wrap my brain around 3 kids under 5 years. But now Leighton is six and in a few weeks will graduate kindergarten! Before I know it she is going to be 16 (insert crying face). Leighton as a five and now six year old has been enjoying school, learning to read, board/card games, tea parties, and sweets!
After school during the two littles' naps, Leighton has been having afternoon tea and listening to Wes read when I am at work. They finished all of the Chronicles of Naria and lately have been playing Uno. It is a sweet time they share. We celebrated Leighton on her actual birthday by setting up tea party breakfast complete with her request of monkey bread.
In lieu of a friend party this year we took her to pick out a doll, have a tea party, and we gave her, my favorite, a polaroid camera with an album to put her pictures in. I think it is so much fun to see pictures through her eyes :)
For Leighton's birthday dinner every year, she always request Wes to grill ribs.
The siblings were very supportive of Leighton's celebrations. Sadie also enjoyed playing with Leighton's new easy bake oven from Grami. Grami said she bought all the mixes she could find so Wes and I would actually bake in it with her ;)
Thursday I took treats for Leighton's class at school. Her sweet teacher had all the kids say characteristics they like about Leighton (aka evidence of God's grace), she prayed over Leighton, and read a book Leighton brought from home. Mrs Marshman is awesome!

Leighton choose for her teacher to read Happy Birthday Felicity and  her Head Master, Mr Davis, gave her a book.
After school on Thursday we all went to the West Seattle Art Nest. It is a parents craft dream. Kids can glitter, paint anything including walls, hot -glue gun recyclables, make bead work, stamp, and learn.... and guess what?!?! We don't have to get out any supplies, clean up, and can create art too!
i enjoyed the chalk board

Grami got into water color
We finished Thursday with a park visit at Lincoln Park in West Seattle, pizza for dinner, and then more ice cream thanks to Papa! We stopped off for a sunset view at Fremont Peek Park, a little hidden gem in the neighborhood.
hey look we all 5 are "sitting" in one picture together!

Lincoln Park has great views of the Vashon Island Ferries
They are sweet with Levi, especially Leighton. She sometimes makes schedules for the day and "schedules cuddle time in" with Levi. Tear.

And on Friday after her school's field trip to the zoo.... we went to the infamous American Girl Doll Store. Leighton picked out a doll, Kit from 1930s, and we had high tea at the little bistro restaurant. Afterwards, Chick-fil-a dinner and FFMN (Friday. Family. Movie. Night.)  American Girl movies 2 nights this week! They actually make me cry because they are set in early 1900s and quite sad what some endured during the depression or seems of orphanges/children in factories....but I do like the girls learning American history! Despite being a pharmacist, my favorite course I took in college was US history post 1865 :)
When we were about 10 yards from the store, Leighton looked up at me and whispered "Im so excited"... she is so special to me.
Tea Party! And matching PJs with her doll!
