Party Time: April Showers Bring May Flowers

We are 1 week away from Leighton turning 4 years old. Seems so young but then so old at the same time. Am I going to be nostalgic every year around May 24th for the rest of my life? If ya dwell on the past you can't make room for the present they say so bring it on 4 year old! As I mentioned before Leighton wanted a flower themed birthday party. She loves flowers, picks flowers, gives away flowers as an act of love, and draws them almost daily. The theme was fitting. We rented Seattle Gymnastic Academy where Leighton takes Friday morning classes for 2 hours. I highly recommend it if you live here as they were so helpful on set up, clean up and facilitating play on gym equipment. You do have to plan strategically if bringing decorations/food because you only have the room 15 min before the party starts. So we did not put hardly anything on the walls or hang anything from ceiling but just focused on decorating tables.

For the party, the kids played on the gym equipment for the first hour and then we went into the room and had flower shaped PB and J or turkey/cheese sandwiches, fruit flower skewers, and pretzels. For dessert the kids had either a flower cupcake or a "dirt" brownie and gummy worm. Some kids including Leighton had both! After that the kids made necklaces or bracelets with flower beads. Everyone was given a wooden mask to take home to paint and a packet of flower seeds to plant. Seattle Gymnastic Academy even provide party favors as well. Here is picture overload for ya, grandparents!

Decor! Leighton picked out the flower fabric I used to make table runners and banners.

We had two desserts options. First there was brownies baked into grass cupcake holders to appear as dirt topped with a  gummy worm. The other was mini cupcakes I ordered from the Sweet Side that I then stuck into styrofoam that I placed in a flower pot. Super easy for any non-bakers like myself.
PB and J or turkey and cheese sandwiches were the main option. Leighton got the jelly only sandwich there in the middle. It was her request and it was her party so why not!
I put strawberries and grapes on skewers and "planted" them in this styrofoam I made to look like grass.
A few fresh flowers in jars, tablecloths, and a balloon finished off the table where the kids would sit!
Play time! After 45 min-1 hour, the kids started slowing down and were making more and more frequent trips to the water fountain. I bet everyone had an earlier bedtime tonight!
She was flying around so fast that majority of the pictures look like this..
Leighton had so much fun with her friends from school and church.
Note in her hand is the purple flower she picked above right before we left for party.
Giving Sadie a little attention in the foam pit.
Though Sadie was about 2-3 years younger than most of Leighton's guest, she did not let that stop her from having a blast!
 Food time!

blowing out 4 little candles. tear.
Party favors: mask to take home to paint/color, beads and string for bracelets we ended up making at party, flower seed packs (not pictured here).
at home I had the girls count out 15 beads to put in each bag for the guest
Thanks to everyone who came and let your child make her birthday special. We appreciate you all!
