Monday with the Moores

Monday was my Saturday this past week. I had worked over the weekend so I had Monday off. It was gorgeous out so we decided to do a little hiking at Discovery Park before the Spring rain came back.  It is about 5-10 minutes from the house so it was doable for a couple hours after Sadie's morning nap before both girl's afternoon naps. We hiked to the lighthouse and had a snack on the beach. Then Leighton wanted to pick wild flowers on our way back to the car. I got a little nostalgic watching her. Realizing that she will be turning 3 years old in a little over a month. I kept thinking how fast she is growing and changing and how Sadie is already 9 months old. I know this feeling will never end.
When we walked back to the car I realized that we now have a large cargo storage unit on the car. I thought "when did we turn into these people." Again I can't believe I have two kids and one is about to be 3 and we need more room when we travel in car to warrant Wes' using his REI dividends and gift card on this thing. (Note is has to permanently ride on top of our car all the time as we do not have storage for it…. thus we always look like we are ready for camping or a road trip)
As mentioned, Sadie is now 9 months! She stood up alone for a few seconds on her 9 month birthday. We take her to doc next week for check up. Below is how Sadie is awoken from naps…. Leighton running into her room and climbing onto crib and screaming "Sadie's up!"Nice bedhead, L.

And the little lady has been brushing her 6 teeth with the help of sister.
Last year for Leighton's birthday we invited a lot of friends to a park. This year Mommy can just handle  a few friends over at the house :) Leighton has requested a Thomas the Train party. She made this request a year ago after her Dumbo party stating "next year when I turn 3 I want a Thomas party". The request never wavered for a year. She has planned this in her mind for 356 days. So a Thomas party it will be. She also stated that when she turns 4 she will have a Hello Kitty party. We will see if that too makes it a year. I am actually amazed that she is still interested in something for an entire year. Plus, I for sure thought Thomas would have faded. She doesn't even watch the TV show. She plays with her train tracks and reads her Thomas books or colors Thomas as much as other things but it is the little bath toy that is the prized possession. She has to sleep with this Thomas bathtub toy she calls "Squish" every nap and night. If it falls in the middle of the night, we know about it. Wes goes fishing behind her bed. She won't take him with us many places stating "I don't want to lose him". Not sure if it is healthy to be that attached! Dumbo (2nd birthday theme) is still fun to play with but she has made a shift to elephants in general. I would actually say she is more an elephant lover than train lover. We are daily pretending to be elephants from the circus or she has named us Wahtoto, Chai and Bamboo from the Woodland Park zoo's elephants. She enjoys all library books with elephant characters and will
spot a picture of an elephant anywhere.  But it is her choice for birthday party theme so Thomas it will be. Below is the bath set someone gave her and the middle Thomas has become Squish. (we actually have 2 of these and the Thomas' can not be interchanged….she knows difference, and refuses to let us know her secret.)
