Parents Getaway: Coastal Maine

Wes and I pack a year worth of dates into a long weekend trip. It is what we do because throughout the year life is busy with kids, we forget to plan for sitters, we like to do things with our kids, it cost to go out to eat/sitter, and we usually just talk about logistics if we go on a date for couple of hours.

We have found it better to physically leave our home base/kids and explore a new city together, eat out, no responsibilities/time frames and have new shared experiences together.
We stayed one night in Portland, Maine. Then headed north to Acadia national park for the day. We stopped in the little towns along Hwy 1 and LL Bean headquarters. Acadia is not a huge national park so we were able to drive around it and do some sight seeing in one day. The we stayed 2 nights in Kennebunkport which was a cute quaint town on coast.

Alantic coast sunrise over the Bush compound.
Maine is known for lobster, blueberries, and whoopee pies so we had to eat plenty of all!
Our last night we say the most beautiful rainbow from end to end over coast.

And a gorgeous sunset on the other side.
Our bed and breakfast had bikes to use so we bike all over town!
Wes loved watching the water crash on the rocks. I think I learned how much he enjoyed it this trip.

Below are pictures from Acadia!

In Bar Harbor and a couple of places, the food stops we wanted to try were closed for season.
