Hallows Church: 5 Year Anniversary

first service
While we were out of town we missed the five year anniversary service for our church. A link Colin sent us of the beginning is HERE if you would like to learn more about the Hallows history and leadership.  Five years ago, Feb 2012, Hallows Church held it's first worship gathering. I cannot believe we have been in Seattle for over 5 years, that the Hallows Church has existed for 5 years, and how God has multiplied Hallows Church into 3 different expression in the city. We still live in Fremont (in our original apartment) where the first Hallows Church expression began. Now there are two more, one in West Seattle and one in North Seattle/Edmonds. God is good, God is gracious, God is doing big things in this city, and we are thankful he is using The Hallows Church!

I don't think I have given an update on the church in a while. We still very much enjoy serving with the Hallows community. Wes is still an elder though no longer working part time for the church due to time constraints with three kids still at home. Wes is an elder over the Justice and Mercy team and very much enjoys spurring others to care for orphans, widows, and the oppressed. He is currently leading a team to run for World Vision.  I am still leading a bible study with other pharmacists from Seattle Children's. Our family is looking forward to hosting dinner for our neighbors next week. It is our first time getting some new people we have met that live within walking distance to us together. We are calling it a supper club :)  Prayers for both of those groups is appreciated.

Sadie and Leighton enjoy attending Kids Ministry weekly. Levi enjoys the baby room, mostly when I am one of the servers :)  We appreciate the intentional discipleship that the teachers are doing to address heart issue and not just behavior.

What a pleasure, growing experience, sin exposure, heart changing, life giving journey we have had in Seattle over the past 5 years with our church community. We are so grateful for the people God has surrounded us with that love the Lord and in turn love others well.

And conveniently we have made great friends along the way  : ) Though it has been hard being away from our family, we appreciate everyone's support as we are joining the Hallow's mission to multiply and magnify the gospel through Seattle to the ends of the earth!

Check out Hallows Church Podcast starting with 2.12.17 (5 year celebration sermon from Matthew 9)  and continuing to listen as Andrew teaches on the vision and values of our church. I love the one over Isaiah 6: 1-8!

"“What comes into your mind when you think about God is the single most important thing about you.” A. W. Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy

This past Sunday we began a new sermon series entitled “Exploring our Shared Vision & Values,” and launched a new expression of our worshipping, missional community in North Seattle. As pastor Dr. Andrew Arthur shared, “what we need in this maiden moment is not so much a vision for our church but a vision of our God.” As one church meeting in three expressions on Sundays, we are united by more than just a shared vision—we are united by a shared Savior.
